Instagram Top Nine 2018

2018 Top Nine on Instagram

As the year comes to a close, one of the fun things to check in on is the mosaic generated by an app called Best Nine.  I learned a trick this year to eliminate duplicates by temporarily archiving the post and restoring it after you run the report.  No surprise that both of the bee quilts showed up twice.  Someone also started a more specific hashtag #quilterstopnine as a better filter for seeing what other makers have shared.

My top nine:
1.Reflections and I at #QuiltCon2018, February
2.Bee Block mashup posted for #improvOctober - these weren't all sewn in 2018
3.April workshop with @talesofastitcher - a favorite piece and definitely best class
4. Then and Now photo for our 35th anniversary in July -this was the biggest surprise
5.Stretch top completed at 7th annual SBAMQG Retreat, October (800 likes, yikes)
6.#improvabstractionlogcabin #curatedquiltsmini and subsequent class sample
7.Digital mock up of student blocks from the workshop I taught in August
8.Modern Quilt Guild Mini Swap, exchanged in Pasadena, February
9.June workshop with Freddy Moran
Quilt as Art
We finally installed the No See Ums hanging system to replace our headboard.  This picture from last week was the duplicate but I decided to include the version of me posing with my quilt and ribbon instead because that moment (and honor) was really special.
SBAMQG Holiday Swap
We had our secret fabric swap exchange at the December guild meeting and I received this gorgeous FQ bundle of Manchester and Aurifil thread from Isabelle.  Isn't the palette so ME, as if personally curated?  A guild mate commented after that she thought I'd picked my own package.  If I make a pillow for the bed, it would fit right in with the one from my friend Kelly.

Plans are to change the quilt out every so often.  Not weekly, but maybe monthly or quarterly.  The optimal size for the space is 60ish square.  I'm making progress on my Eyes quilt with that target in mind.  It feels like I haven't sewn in forever!

Brushing off the Bah Humbug the best that I can.
Happy Holidays.

  1. Love seeing your best nine and I agree - that was a great moment for you at QC with Reflections! It's exciting there are a few more Bee Sewcial quilts in the show next year!

    1. It was definitely a highlight and I'm so looking forward to Nashville and having BeeSewcial represented again. It's going to be "yummy"
